I hope someone knows! That is a really Kool piece! If I had it, I'd have to pretend it was a pump and fit some ad glass in and maybe set a computer behind that window! A crank and hose outlet would be real easy!

I believe it is a Canadian mailbox and the MP stands for Mail Poste.

Looks Like a police call box. Probably From the UK M P would be Metropolitan Police. http://www.bygones.net/view.asp?ID=7429Aaron

Hey Dick, I was thinking the top slots would be for the mail, the panel/door below the front slot would be for the pick up schedule and the lower door was where the mail man would retrieve the mail. I did not notice the bulb inside, if that is original to the unit and it came with ad glasses it is probably some type of call box for law enforcement. If it had ad glasses it would have had a way to hold them in, wish there were some pic's of the inside. Very cool piece what ever it was used for.

I like Kevin`s idea. I would grind the M and P off and make it a Red Crown gas pump.

Worth more as is, as a police call box. I wouldn`t deface it and turn it into a fantasy gas pump.

I would say it is a mail drop from a post office or hotel lobby. The front door would have had information on when the lower box would be emptied. Might have had glass inserts on the upper side panels saying posts?

It is a Police Call Box; "M" and "P" would be the initials of the department or Providence etc... Blue color is indicative of Law Enforcement call boxes.
Buying: Polarine / Red Crown Gasoline Globes and Signs, Early Chevrolet & United Motors Signs, and 1910's through 1940's Gas & Oil Signs.
