Composite cans range in value from $5-$35 depending on condition and in some instances Company....

They are not worth more full than empty, (that is my opinion)...

I agree with Bob, and also empty any compost cans you have right now because they will look right through the cardboard!

Ron, I personally believe you are correct. The value of such cans will increase in the future...

That being said, I can't imagine composites ever reaching the value of a "metal can"... 99%+ of the cans from small Regional Company's that failed before WWII will be metal...

Personally, I don't know any Collector that is "just passing them by"... Especially if they are concentrating on just 1 or a couple specific brands...

Most of my Veedol/Tydol and Associated cans are metal... But, I do have a few composites to ensure I have most if not all the different differences...

I believe most can Collector's Collections are the same way... A majority of their cans are metal and they have a small segment of composite cans and perhaps even some plastic cans to fill out their displays...

...there are a handful of Gulf composite cans that I'm looking for...the oldest have been around for 50 years now...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I don't pass on the composite cans. What is the difference. I collect cans. Anything with graphics that I like. Not just oil either.

Composites say more to me then metal cans.
That's just the era I grew up in.
I pay top dollar if they're full.

Full Sinclair DTR(black checkerboard) composite can in good condition has fetched me $50 a piece more than once

I'm still trying to buy the green checkerboard composite can, last one on Ebay brought like $85

so.....it all depends on what can you have

remember, these are just opinions on here, I just backed up my opinion with facts. So, when somebody tells you minimal, is that just based on personal preference or fact?

10 years ago a GB96 pump was worth $50 and nobody wanted them. Now, with good patina all original, I can get $800 out of one and $400 for a not very good one all day long.

Since this discusion has come up this has prompted me to count the amount of composites I have in my collection of oil cans. I have approximately 200 cans in the collection of which 87 are composite. Because I collect primarily Frontier and Husky most of their cans were composite. The price range that I have paid range from the lowly $6.00 Husky to the high end $150 to $200 Frontier. No $2 cans. Esse's Garage sold one of the $150 Frontier cans on here a while back for $45 and it didn't last 15 minutes. I was to late and already have all of those I want. Just my thoughts nothing more. Mitch
