Anyone know a good source / collector who sells copies of old service station photos? There are always guys at the shows selling these photos... just wondering if anyone knows these guys? Contact information would be helpful.

I hope you Included your user name in the subject line & station photos.
Like Jack I receive LOTS of emails from people I have never heard of ie; Big Joe Howard, Little Mick Doe, Gene S..., etc. But MOST never say/include what their User name is here. IF I don't recognize a name & there isn't a subject, I normally Delete the message in my spam folder, W/O opening it.
Subject Line;
"I have a few ???? for you", TRASH.
"Can you tell what this is [no pictures]?" TRASH
"Here's my phone # Call me, I have a ??" TRASH

I found this on Google:

Carl F Mantegna Antiques
9415 S 83rd Avenue
Oak Lawn, IL 60457-1925

I have seen Carl and his son vending at swap meets in the Midwest for years. But, I don't have any contact info (phone #). I'm sure someone will chime in here, since Carl is fairly well known in our area. Good luck! John

I have already sent a email to s10truck, explaining where should I start. He supplied no years, what part of the country these stations might be found, and he asked for 8 X 10s.

I sent him this: I am 78 years old and am running out of time. I have 41 file drawers filled with gas pump literature, and a garage filled with service memorabilia. My problem is, should I spend time answering questions like this, or should I be finding ways to liquidate my assets, so my wife and children are not burdened with that problem. I have items I paid $500 for, they don't know that, to them it is just a piece of paper.

Carl and I are old friends, we met over 20 years ago. Carl sells what he has at shows, look for him at IG. If he has what you are looking for, just go through his boxes of photos looking. Neither he nor I have the time to look for a specific item.

As I explained to s10truck, I have access to just about every National Petroleum News printed since 1910, but I just don't have the time to go through all of them looking for a single picture, especially when I don't know when these stations were in business.

I can in fact supply years and locations (states) of all the service stations I mentioned. If you needed this information, just ask.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread but what you said above, Jack, got me thinking about asking you if you have any Rainbow station literature/photos for sale? According to "the Bobs", the first one opened in Spokane in 1907 and the closed or sold out in 1961ish.
I apologize for posting this here but as Jack has said before, he receives many PMs and this seems to be the best method of contact.
If you see this, Jack, and if you have the desire to send me a PM, please do and Thanx in advance for any time that is spent on a response!

Dave, Jack doesn't do PMs...

Emails only... And as db says. It helps if the one puts in the "email header"... From Oldgas...

I most likely don't get 1/10th (maybe even 1/100th) of the emails that Jack and db get... But, I do get a fair share asking questions about Associated/Tide Water and some other Company's... Most of them, I have no idea who the Sender is... Because all I've ever seen them as say" Man-Cave-Shoppe" or some other user name on Oldgas...

I do have an advantage over Jack, as I don't mind PMs.. And I delete them after a short period of time... I'm not trying to be rude... We have only a "finite" amount of space... I wish I could keep all of them, as sometimes PMs are the only avenue I have to know the First and possibly last names of the Membership... Because too many, still don't have their names in their Profiles!.....

"I too, apologize" for "High-Jacking" this thread!

I do not own "Old Gas", it is owned by Jim Pots who lives about 40 miles south of where I live.

Jim started the website, has done an excellent job maintaining it.

At times I bragged that I had the largest website devoted to this hobby, but after reading some info lately, that honor now belongs to Jim. I know Jim has more images on his site than I do, I believe he has 17,000, I have about 12,000.

As for my website, I'm sure my wife Cindy, will continue to maintain the website, weather she will be able to add new material, will be questionable

Maybe she will sell it to someone who wants a good start.

Thanks for clearing that up, Jack. I also hope you can stay active for many years to come.

I really haven't added up all the images we host and display on Oldgas.com since 1996. But our forum's File Manager direct upload hosts over 61,000 images uploaded by our members in the last 4 years.
