I have been rebuilding Computers for 26 yrs now and 6 of that here, and let me say thanks for all the business.

I have had to start a new way of pricing on condition.
A computer in GOOD SHAPE/ All Parts, can be rebuilt to look like this for $200.00 plus shipping

A computer that just needs the Variator dismantled and
cleaned correctly will be $250.00
and the same if just the head needs the same attention

A total teardown on the entire unit will be $300.00 and look something like this

Joe... you workmanship is outstanding... well done

this is the best way I have found to ship a computer.
Double or triple boxes, then packed with paper.
Cushion bottom and top.

And then mark the box well to let the GO-RILLAS know not to destroy it.

After a coversation with the Angie @ UPS,
I decided I am going to have to start insuring computers differently.

I will have to add the cost of the rebuild and the cost of the core.
I normaly insure for $300.00, but it occured to me if an 8" computer got lost that would only be enough to cover the cost of the core.

From now on I will insure all standard computers for $350.00
And the small 8" for $600.00, due to the fact an 8" core may run you up to $300.00 IF you can find one.
This will be added to the cost of the return shipping and is not much $

I would suggest getting $300.00 insurance for anyone sending IN an 8" computer

I have been having trouble with the time it takes to get paid.
I, in good faith, send your computer back, return shipping comes out of pocket till I get re-inbursed.

Some folks want to wait till they get the unit, then wait a few more weeks to pay me.
If I have 4 computers out to the west coast, that could tie up a few hundred dollars in shipping.
I can't afford Muscle Cars, Erie #53's, Showcase Pumps or $1000.00 signs. I am not a wealthy man.
I also can't afford to wait 3 weeks for a payment.

Lately I have asked to be paid within 2-3 days of you recieving your E-Bill.
Well, I am still waiting on a payment (under those conditions) from the last shipped out 09-09-13, now it is 09-16-13 and no payment.
If you EVER have a problem with anything I rebuild , I will ALWAYS make it right.

I will include a pic of your finished computer, and the bill for the shipping, rebuild, ect.
I ask that you make a payment within 3 days.

I have worked very hard at building a reputation of being Fair, Dependable, and Honest, and my work is
plastered all over the internet, so I think it is safe to say, you know what you are getting.
I have a LOT of WONDERFULL customers that always pay on time and I

the HVAC inspection is due by Jan 31 2014.
The next will be the insulation inspection, they
came out and gave me a "cover up" for the walls.
Then I will need about 100 computers to finish

I do almost the same thing you do, but we rebuild the ECO mechanisms. Our base cost is $200.00, but because other parts are just worn out, the average unit usually runs about $350.00 with shipping.

When one is ready, I send the customer an invoice explaining all the costs, then tell them they can pay by cash, check, money order (explaining the we prefer U.S. Postal Money orders). We usually receive the payment within 7 days, then we ship the unit. We have probably rebuilt over 150 of these units and no one has ever complained about the payment method, and no one has ever not paid.

It is not a situation where you do not trust people, it is only good business to expect payment before you ship anything.

This is what happens when you don't follow the shipping directions I have provided.
Besides the mounting ear was broken, the standoff got shoved through the top plate.
The bottom plate is now warped to match the top.

I got hit with "RANSOM WARE"
According to my PC guy it is a new Russian born malware
that encrypts your files and hold them hostage untill you pay them money for the data to unlock it.
BAD STUFF!!!!!!
I am not paying the ransom so I had to have another hard drive installed and lost all my files untill these guys get busted, and release the codes,
then I can get back into my old hard drive
I picked it up looking for bomber pictures, so if you have anything important, BACK IT UP!!!!!!!

Turns out there was a "Mammy Yokum" Squadron that were light bombers that flew raids on Japan in '44.
Mammy, being the patriarch of the Yokum Family, was lead bomber w/ Mammy & her pipe as Nose art.
There were also 'Lil Abner, Daisy Mae, and other planes named after the characters from DOGPATCH.

For those of us who have not used your services, does the price of $300.00 on a total tear down include parts or is that just labor? Lets say a few wheels are damaged? And a gear or two is striped because someone forced it!

It kinda depends......
Usually I overlook bad wheel or two
but some parts are way harder to find.
I will charge for shutter/blinders
whole wheel set replacement,
broken frame part.
As far as gears, it depends.
I do not have extra cone gears that are not damaged.
If I have to rebuild a range arm assembly or 3, I may charge.
I don't charge much for parts and nothing for ones I have plenty of.
Normally it will never exceed $350.00
That is if all the guts & gears are fried
