I stumbled across a Red Adair Zippo and was wondering if anyone knew the approximate value.

It is a standard stainless model with the Red Adair logo.
"Red Adair Wild Well Control"
"Houston Texas"
"Fires,Blowouts"
and has an engraved picture filled with red enamel of a burning well.
The date of manufacture is 1962.

I do know a little bit of history about the lighter...
In 1962,as you know,was the infamous "Devil's Cigarette Lighter" well fire in the Sahara Desert.
This fire was the basis for the lighter.
The lighter was given to employees that were directly on or in support of extinguishing the fire.
I'm not yet sure how many were made.

I was given a Red Adair Zippo by Red and Boots whilst serving in the Forces in Lybia in the 60's, he was there working and we assisted in supplying transportation for him and the crew, I had it stolen many years ago, I would love to have another one, must be in short supply I guess

Read this A.M. that Red Adair passed away at age 89..Article said he never lost anyone who worked for him..

Red Adair recently passed away at 89 years of age. One of the great oil well firefighters. I would say the price of the lighters will escalate.
