I am restoring my Tokheim 34. I want the switch to work that controls the lights. I have it apart and cleaned but the mechanical switch does not work. Scratching my head as to why. These are not unique to the 34's Tokheim 36b 39 and maybe others have them or I can adapt. I am attaching a pick of the plunger that is activated by a ink pen through the skin, as well as a pic of the actual switch. Can ya' help a guy out?
Thanks
Larry

Larry, I had a similar problem. I cut a flat piece of metal the size of the switch and put a modern push button switch through the metal. I lined the new switch up with the old plunger. The whole thing fit inside the old housing and was not detectable from the outside. I added a spring on the long connecting shaft to make sure that it would retract properly with each use. Your original switch looks much better than mine did.

Done that and had it completely apart. In my mind I think it should set more in the middle, So the lever could toggle it either way. Maybe another small spring has rotted away or I destroyed it when bead blasting.

I can't tell from the picture, there are too many small pieces that can't be seen. You might not be missing anything, or some small piece might be defective. All of the parts have to work together or it won't work at all.

Wayne switch's look somewhat the same but they are very different too. This is a tokheim switch.

Yes, don't throw them away just because they don't work! Theres a part on there that someone needs! I have done like other members suggested, and used a modern switch in its place, but I really like using the old original stuff. Heres a picture of the Wayne switch assembly. Very different.

Randy--I can identify with that. I used parts from 3 switches to make one working unit before. Not too hard to do, but darn small parts to work with!
