What do you think this sign is worth?

"Worth" I wouldn't say.
But, I would be willing to say, that given it's size, it's condition, and what I believe may be it's somewhat rarity based on Pennzoils limited ventures into the selling of gasoline, it would not have surprised me if it had sold for as much as $750 or more.
For 325 bucks I would have loved to add it to my collection!! Pennzoil is my second born after to Sunoco.

Looks like a porcelain sign. If it is, you don't see many embossed porcelain signs.

Here is another sold by same seller as one above;
PENNZIP
I find it ODD that 1st sign pictures was taken in January 2008!
As a seller you'd think they would use an updated picture, instead of one taken 5 1/2 Years ago.

The original one I posted doesn't say anything about it being embossed. What made you ask/say that? Now the one that DB posted after you certainly looks embossed. And like you said, if porcelain, that would be pretty crazy.
As for the picture dates Dick, that does seem a little strange. Maybe he took them when he first got it and is just now selling it and just pulled them from his records. Who knows.

Are you guys questioning the athenticity of these? I'm only asking, cuz if we came to that conclusion, it would be very educational for me. Because they sure look authentic.

Look at the last listing photo, that shows the view of the back of the sign. You can see that the letters are embossed. Then look at the other photo's with close ups of the individual letters; you will note that they appear to be embossed.

Oh yah!! I see it now for sure looking at the rear photo!!
Like I said in my original posting. For $325, I would have loved it and dont understand how it didn't bring more dough. Seems to me someone got a very good deal.

Looking to gain some education myself, what are the indicators that indicate the sign to be from pre-1950's?

I've been collecting gas/oil for about 28 years, but I'm getting more and more gun-shy when it comes to judging authentic signs these days.

Here's another one that was recently listed. Description states embossed and porcelain.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PORCELAIN-PENNZOIL-PENNZIP-SIGN-FROM-OLD-GAS-PUMP-STATION-/281121340135

I believe, Pennzip gasoline was marketed late 20's into early 40's.

VERY RARE PENNZIP GASOLINE SIGN

Up for auction is a Very Rare 1930's Pennzip Gasoline Porcelain sign. The letters are all raised in a dome fashion. This is rare in itself on a porcelain sign.

states 30's.. cool

don't know if I've ever seen a embossed porcelain sign?

I think one of the most common embossed porcelain signs is the big Shell "Shellubrication" sign.....
Example, Ebay item # 151106728221
