Here's a similar half a sign, I had a few years back. I thought mine was probably from the 40's.

Just a guess, but I'd figure 40s to 50s.

here's a couple I have in and out of my shop with the maple leaf. I believe them to me early to mid 60's. But that one up in my first post I never seen before and has same shape but has more GM brands on it so just wondering how old it is. Thanks

Canadian GM advertising using the Maple Leaf is early. Started in the 30's. I'm not 100% when it ended but I'm guessing sometime in the 40's. Here is a calendar from 1932 using the logo.

I would say your sign is probably late 1940s or even early 1950s. Signs were not made during the war years and even for a few years afterwards there was still some rationing and a shortage of certain materials. It is too bad they didn't date them. GM like a lot of major auto and oil companies went to a fair amount of trouble to destroy their signage when they changed their logo to a 'newer' version. Lucky for us some did escape this destruction. Cheers, Don.

....Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm starting to think it may be a late 40's or 50's sign too. The brown GMC one in my first post is made of wood, even the GMC are wood and are raised lettering. I got it from a local dealer and he wasn't sure but figured it was up in the rafters put away in the 40's yet.
