I have an original Texaco Ethyl Globe in mint condition, but am currently more interested in determining the history of Texaco Ethyl.. yes, for obvious reasons but also through pure curiosity.
When was Texaco Ethyl sold as a brand name from pumps? From what i have seen, it looks as though it may have only been for a few years in the early 30's.

Charlie,
There were different Texaco Ethyl globes used from around 1926 through 1938.

Is there a way to tell what style was being used when? I have a picture of the one we have but have no clue how to include it here.

"TEXACO Ethyl" was replaced by "FIRE-CHIEF Ethyl" in 1932. "FIRE-CHIEF Ethyl" was replaced by "Sky Chief" in 1938.

Yes, Jim is correct, but the globe used from 1930-32 was different.

Doug,
There was a one piece Texaco Ethyl globe that is very similar to the one posted in this thread. It has raised letters cast in it that are white on a red background. It looks very similar to the 3 piece glass version that came along later.
I'll see if I have a picture of one and post it.
