I would like to say thanks to all for the comments and thoughts we received after dad passed away the other week. Means a lot to the family. Dad always said he wanted to get hauled to the cemetery in his old 1956 Chevy Cameo Courier pickup truck. This summer dad and my brother Matt did some work to it, brakes, new valve covers and air cleaner and other things. Dad was a car guy too and was always tinkering and fixing up (AKA spending money) on old cars. Anyways, the rear end locked up on it during a drive around the block on afternoon. Matt told dad he couldn't die now because his truck was broke but Dad said he had a spare. We were able to take him to the cemetery in "Big Orange", a 1962 Corvair pickup. Dad also had a wood crate of signs in his collection that as far as we could tell had never been opened. Best we could tell it was a couple vertical cookie cutter Sinclair signs. We used to joke with dad that between his calling hours and the funeral we were going to open up the box and see what was in it. That didn't happen but yesterday the four brothers and mom decided it was time. I am aware of the cookie cutter style Opaline and Pennsylvania signs but who knows, this could be a box of "new discovery" Sinclair Aircraft signs, or have the race car on them like the flat gallon can has? Time to find out The signs were ink stamped on the back Millersburg Ohio where the old bulk plant grandpa and dad used to work at was. Well here is the answer;

Probably the first time they saw the light of day since they were made. There was some newspaper between the signs from Chicago dated June 24 1941 if I remember the date correctly. First one

There were two more in the box, the same or different? All three are the same They were dusty, washed them off with water and a brush Putting them back in the wood crate Put the box back against the wall where dad had it, now we know what is in it and one is on display.

We took my dad to the cemetery on the fire truck that he designed for the city. He gave them 43 years as fireman with 32 as chief. The most fun we had was going thru his stuff after he died. He was a car guy too. We found parts NOS that hadnt seen the light of day for 50 years. Take care of mom and everything else will fall into place.

Wes, great story and that is exactly the way I want to go. Prayers to your family. When my father died it left a big hole in the garage for quite some time. He was my best friend. Take care, Rob
