Hi Eddie,

You have a "generic" oil bottle. The embossed markings are seals that show compliance with various state laws.

These bottles were used by independent gas stations and as replacements by major brand stations.

The "Master" spout is often seen on a variety of oil bottles with the standard oil bottle thread. These spouts are being accurately reproduced by Ron Scobie, a member of this forum.

I have seen these bottles in good condition sell for around $35. Be aware that there are some floating around with recently added oil company decals for a higher price.

the oil bottle you have were used in the 30s 40s. Oil would be pumped in from a bulk tank to a mark in the glass, near the tiop by the metal screw top, then poured into car, truck, what ever. One US quart. The markings are approval by weights and measures by that particulare state. I have several in my collection. I am currently a certified weight and measures for Illinois, and have serviced gas pumps for 22 years.
