I am not the biggest fan of large signs but the graphics on this are amazing. I got this off a friend and this is what I was selling items for. My question is when does this sign date and also is this thick paint or enamel because it has shelving just like enamel or porcelain but it is not that heavy.

Okay thank you very much Tbirdgas. It was hard to tell cause the chipping was strange. I assumed it was but it is so thick.

Great sign. What is the other dimension? Will you be attempting a cautious cleaning? That would look killer clean. Its already pretty darn good as is.

It measures 10'x36ish"? I believe. It is a little large lol. I tried cleaning a small part and I do not believe it will clean. It may but the part that looks brown will not clean up at all so I might as well leave it the way it is. It is a pretty nice sign as is, as you stated, and once I think about it I am just happy to own it at all.

Nice sign Jon!
Not one you see very often.
That is definitely a keeper.

I could have bought one of those along with another that had the Globe Penn cans pictured. They only brought $100 but they were way to big and I was too far from home to haul them home. Painted signs.

Mike thanks so much. Still wondering on date. It is wood framed and I tried to see if there was a stamp but I could not find one. I am guessing 40s?

Thanks everyone. Glad everyone likes it. I did get some info that another one in mint condition was sold in 06 but besides the one keithia said he found that is about it. If anyone wants the history I know of the sign was actually found in a tobacco barn by my friend. A farmer came over to my friends house and said if you like comet stuff, my friend collects tresler comet, I have a comet sign for you. He went there and this was what he had. From what I understand the guy was using it hang tobacco.

Awesome sign!

I would think 1940's/50's date.

In the current market even painted signs from that era are being well respected and appreciate beyond the expected values.
