I only know of a couple of these that exist! This one was found by a friend of mine, and it was sticking up out of the dirt in an old farm yard!

I have talked to many Minnesota collectors that have been in it for 40 years and have never seen these. It's a Minneapolis area company.

May not be the rarest of pump plates, but a couple you don't see that often on your side of the big pond.
The Koppartrans is fairly rare over here in Sweden, the Caltex not that rare (but good looking).

Not to get off topic but this is what I use to hang signs even larger ones. 1 3/4" long get them from staples. Some signs they even blend in and you don't see them as well.

I use to use push pins on all my light weight, small signs, never a problem. Beats mudding and sanding the hell out of your walls. LOL

Great post of some rare signs. I have seen a few people in the past put Cities Service pump plates on here. There is some doubt in my mind that they did have pump plates. Anyone here that can post a definite pump plate from Cities Service. Also could these pump plates have possibily been truck door signs, lubester signs. I have never found any of these in over 30 yrs.Tnx

Interesting to see a spelling error on a painted sign. I guess Midway couldn't afford a proofreader.

That's even more interesting in a porcelain sign. (There should be no apostrophe in "it's.")

Misuse of the apostrophe is still rampant in the sign/advertising business today-just start looking around. It only mirrors the culture though; many people just can't resist throwing one after a plural.

Cities Service used porcelain pump plates in both the round and clover shapes (10 inch). The photo with the clock shows the 2 different configurations of pump plates!
They also had porcelain lubester plates that were slightly over 9 inches and had a different mounting configuration.I've only ever found round lubester plates, and these smaller paddle types!
The last 2 pictures are of the lubester plates. Notice the different mounting holes on the round plate!

Nice signs Kevin. Never found one in my part of the world.Anyone have pic's of Cities Service trucks with door signs? When I restored my 41 IH gas truck the only pics I could find on the net of old trucks were decals or painted on. I had heard of older lubesters with signs but never found any.

I was waiting for you to jump in Lenny,
Several years ago I sold Bobby P. a 10-12" "Titusville Petro" porcelain sign, I have never seen another, are there any out there. I'm remembering it was a white background, green lettering. and maybe an oil derrick on it?

KZ - Dan has a Titusville PPP in their sale this weekend (dont remember if it has graphics or not)...Great looking signs everyone. Hey Paddy...have you ever seen the Billups with "Your Friend" verbage? There's one in Scott and Wayne's Gas pump Resto guide however I have never seen one in person or one for sale...is that the toughest Billups plate in your opinion?
