I recently purchased a M/S 80. I haven't started tearing the pump down yet,but have ordered all new rubber and the host of other goodies already. Anybody out there have a special trick on how to make the outer edge door rubber fit correctly in the tight radius of the upper door corners? Wish they repoped rubber already formed. A friend told me to cut an arch on the backside rubber to make the bend. He said he has tried cutting relief slits close together and a host of other tricks but has found the arch shaped relief cut works the best for him. Anybody have a different idea on how to tackle this task??? Thanks for any and all advice!!! Kurt

The arch works the best for me also, have tried both ways. Some people are not putting the rubber on. If the pump stays inside that might work for you also. Richard

I've done alot of 80s and I go to the hardware store and buy 3/8 or 1/2 rubber weather strip with self adhesive backing and it works perfect and I like the way it looks better then original.Just my 2cents

We cut a 5 or 6 'wedges' or pizza slices in the radius to make the rubber turn the corner easier....hope that helps. Seth

I will try to post a picture tonight of my MS 80 with the correct style on it, and a picture of the inside door rubber set up. It looks killer when done correctly.

My first pump restoration was a M&S 80 which still had the rubber on it. The corners were trimmed down which eliminated the corner problem. I'd post a picture but the pump was sold a year ago to a friend. Now ask me what the family members think of that.

I have seen several M/S 80's done with the original style rubber...some looked great, and some had the rubber bunched in the corners and did not follow the radius of the door. I just thought I would ask for sugestions on application tips from those that have done this rubber seal several times before. Thanks for the input. Kurt
