I got a question and pics by email about this McCoy's Pride Motor Oil can from McCoy Service, Charlotte, North Carolina. Looks like a composite can.

He would like to know anything about this company.

McCoy Oil was a Charlotte based discount gasoline marketer that operated about 40 stations over a period from the 1930s thru the 1970s. Most were third-rate stations, even by the standard of most discount operations. The can in the photo dates from the 1960s, and several are known, as well as an earlier metal can. The McCoy family eventually transitioned to the Cavalier brandname before finally exiting gasoline marketing in the late 1970s. Stations found in towns along U.S. 74 across NC, and throughout the Charlotte to Columbia area in SC. One McCoy station photo in the new gas station book.

Thanks, guys. Great info, Wayne!

The can design sure does look like a modified version of that ParaPride.

Randy, there is 2 different versions of the Parapride also. Look at mine next to the McCoys then look at the picture of yours. I have one like yours too on the other side of the pictured Parapride I should have got it in the picture also.

Wayne - Which new gas book is the McCoy station photo in (is it available yet)? If anyone else has any info on this company or advertising (smalls, etc) it would be neat to see them...My Dad used to talk about stopping at McCoys stations when they would go to Gastonia NC. I live just a few miles from US 74 and havent found any local McCoy cans, etc.
