RIP Kyle. A true gentleman. On my first trip to Iowa gas when I just started he took the time to talk and walked with me over to a sign I had question about. He explained condition issues and was a wealth of knowledge for a new collector. Several years later he saw me bid on a Gilmore small tin sign. When I lost he came over and said he was the one who made the discovery(one of thousands I'm sure) and sold me one for $100 less than the winning bidder. He will truly be missed. My prayers and thoughts to his family.

Wow!...I am truly shocked. Even as we recognize our mortality, it never feels real or seems possible when this happens. Kyle was legendary even when I began collecting back in the mid 1980s. His name came up in many conversations as having the most superb globe collection in the country. He was always fun, friendly and informative when we crossed paths. Mr. Moore will be greatly missed and no doubt continue to live on in spirit through stories re-told.

Kyle also built the cable TV industry being one of it's major pioneer's back in the 1950s...He was also well known in the big car circles and had at one time a huge collection of the best cars money could by. Kyle was quite a man, and I'm so happy I grew to know him as he was and will always be. Scott B.

So sorry, rip Kyle. I knew Kyle before he got into Gas and oil stuff. He had antique cars and quite a collection of those. Allways a friendly guy, but man did he hate repos. I think his uncle Bruce may have got him interested in petro, as Bruce was setting up at Chickasaw swap as early as 1972. Once about 1974 Bruce had a stack of Mobilgas pump plates about 2 feet high, selling them for $15 each or 2 for $25. I splurged and bought 2, LOL

The news sent chills down my spine. Thanks Scott for posting.

I had the pleasure to first meet Kyle at Barrett-Jackson at Scottsdale in 2013. Great guy and a very knowledgeable collector. Kyle recently did me a favor by bidding on my behalf at an auction on a sign I was interested in because I was unable to attend. A memory that will last a lifetime and a sign that is priceless to me.

My sincere condolences to the Moore family. Kyle will be missed and remembered by many.

I am truly stunned at this sad news. Kyle was one of the first people I met in this hobby in 1981. He always stopped at my home in DeKalb Il with that BIG BUS and would get the neighborhood buzzing. Remember that there were no books , internet, just hard wired phones. Kyle took that place of restoration books and reference guides long before they were printed. He was always generous with his time and with his collection. Several of my early restorations would not have been possible without his great wealth of knowledge in a young hobby. When I could not find a THATS GOOD GULF GASOLINE GLOBE for my Duplex restoration 25 yrs ago he sent me a NOS one and said it looked better on my pump than in his collection. His chief person that restored most of his collection , Nicky Fox must be heart broken. He was another early pioneer that knew his stuff. I would always like to listen to Carroll Sears, Kyle , and Jackie Knott and hear the volumes of history of petroleum collectibles these men had. Kyle by far was the kindest , giving person I have ever met in this hobby. He was THE MAN and don't think anyone will ever take his place. RIP old friend. Thanks for helping a young guy get started and being a true friend . Rob

Sorry to hear about Kyle, met him at Columbus and chatted about a Canadian BA globe he had for sale. Then a few years later I ran into him at a big auction here in southern Ontario, he remembered me and we had a good conversation. Truly a great human. RIP and my condolences to the family. Ted

In 1997 my wife and I got to visit Kyle and his massive collection. I will never forget his kindness and wealth of knowledge he shared. After my wife and I spending several hours viewing the collection and purchasing several pieces, Kyle and his wife took my wife and I down the street to a local restraunt and bought us lunch. He will be missed by many.
RIP from the Cherry family.

Also met him when I first started at a gas bash at Bill Allards. Very nice guy who took the time to talk with you even though he knew nothing about you. Met him again at Iowa, my first trip when my son was about 12, had to love the 5 or 6 Pomeranians though he had in the big bus.
