I bought it on ebay. It is an original piece. If some one were building or restoreing a 30s Shell gas station this book would tell you how every thing is painted inside and out. It even tells you if a lubster was outside it would be painted different than one that was inside.

I remember having that book in my Ebay watch when it was listed, thought it was one of the most interesting of its type I had seen. I have a similar one put out by Socony-Vacuum (Mobil) and feel they are an invaluable guide for restorations with the specifics they contain. Glad you were the one to get it Matt.

Martin,
The similar S-V book I have was put out in the 50's so there is no comparison of the deco styles of the 30's Shell stations being much more beautiful. I would like to leave this thread all Shell so could PM you some pics from my Mobil book if you are still interested. Send me a PM if so!
Thanks,
Darin

"that's some outstanding reference material.... thanks for putting on... never seen anything like that... any idea what date it was made?"

The typed pages have dates. There are different dates ranging from 1932-1937, so I would guess it is from 1937 or 1938.

Thanks Matt... just loved it especially all that art deco designs & paint schemes... its unbelievable how pre-ww2 literature still gets found, probably stashed away collecting dust for 50+ yrs.
