I had a friend tell me it was worth some money so i made an account on here and figured id do some research, its oval and about 4 feet tall and 6 feet wide. I can go down to the barn and take pictures if i havent described it well enough. Thanks a lot guy!

Condition is everything. Without pictures the majority of people will not even try to give an estimate

I agree, pictures are the only way you'll get any estimates. I'm sure you can understand that? Old saying about "a pig in a poke." Paul www.severngaspumps.com

It looks a little beat in these pictures from the dust and cobwebs but it has little to no marks or scratches on it and the metal ring around it has the hinges still from when it was hanging. little to no rust on the metal ring.

You will probably find that it's about 7 feet across. It's not in too bad of shape but very plain.
In my opinion,
it's worth somewhere from $250 if it's a "friend deal" or wholesale to $600 tops. Ebay sellers would probably ask around a grand for it tho.
There were a lot of Esso stations with these signs so they are pretty common but that makes them large, relative cheap signage that looks great on a big empty wall.

Hi Dave - can you tell me where I can find one of these signs in nice shape for $600 as you mentioned? I'd like to have one, but I'm not finding any close to that price. Thanks, Jeff

Thanks Scott. Would the condition be comparable to the pictures in this thread?

Blue-edge non-dealer non-standards are kind of the starting point for ESSO collectors in the large sign category. Single sided they do sell for as much as $600/wholesale in decent condition. Double Sided will bring $800/wholesale. These are current market. 2 years ago you could deduct 200 from that figure and 5 years ago even more.

These days I know no collectors who would even let a "friend" have one for $250, maybe $450.

They are common, but desired.

Here is a pic of me next to the 2 Carter(Esso branch off) DSP signs I had.
The worse condition went on a "friend" deal for $300 and he turned around and ebayed it for $600 or $800. The better condition went to a collection for $500 or less. This was about a year ago.
