I bought a Tokheim 34 display case pump over 2 years ago and tore it apart right away, to do a restoration on it. Well, one thing led to another, and several "immediate" projects came along, and it all interfered enough to set the restoration back several months.
It was late last year when a friend called about some large glass panels that he thought were for a Tok 34 and when I explained them to him, he explained that he had bought them off ebay on a chance that they might make the trip intact, and that the seller had 2 more sets!
I immediately made a deal with him to secure the other 2 sets and I would purchase them if they made the trip. They arrived in good shape and after some wheeling and dealing, I was the owner of 2 sets and the Tok 34 suddenly changed from a display case to a flashing display sign!
I wanted to duplicate the past as much as possible, so I even went to the trouble of getting an adjustable flasher and installing it! Somewhere along the line, I was able to buy a Tydol Ethyl globe from Scott Benjamins web site, and the whole plan was coming together!
It took a little fabrication of the retaining clips, as they surely weren't there and I had no idea as to what they looked like, but with a dirty imprint on the back of the glass, I pretty well figured it out!
Here are the pictures from start to finish--hope you enjoy them!

Heres the 2 AD glass panels as I received them, with some old decals over the top of the actual picture on the ad glass. Picture of the door shows it after I scraped the decal off(I hated to do it) and mounted the glass in the door. Last picture is part way thru assembly!

Heres the completed pump with the ad glass panels in place and ready to be displayed. The panels came in 2 different designs, so we decided to use one of each for the 2 panels!
I have thanks to give to Shayne Bottin for bringing the panels to my attention and selling them to me AND to Owen Wright for the metal work he did for me on this pump!
I saved the display case panels in case I ever want to change it back to a display case pump, and NO, they're not for sale! LOL

I think thats one thing to be said about this hobby, Once your in deep, there's always something to restore, clean, polish, hang, and repair to keep things going.

I've never seen an original flashing light assembly for one of these pumps and I'm sure it would be different than what I have fabricated, because of the prescense of a pumping unit and motor and such, but I just fabricated this assembly with the idea that it should be bright enough to really light things up!
I'll try and make a You Tube video of it flashing and post it here, if I remember how??
Heres a couple pics of the light assembly that I built. The flasher unit that I installed will allow you to set the rate just about anywhere you want. It looks pretty cool when its all lit up and flashing!

Stunning pump. I've only seen one & it was missing the panels. I can't believe you were able to find original glass panels. Better get yourself a powerball ticket. You're on a lucky streak!
