I didnt want to post this in the value forum because thats not what Im looking for. Iv'e been racking my brain for a few days concerning this sign. I was able to buy this along with a porcelain sign from the same gentlemen locally. The guy found the 2 signs in the attic of an old business he bought a while back. He knew nothing of signs and only had the 2. I was a little leary at first as I couldnt find another like it but after talking with the gentlemen the story seemed to add up and I took a chance. The porcelain sign is authentic and from the same era. Once I held this and seen the paint stress marks and other tell tales of painted signs this old I was confident it was legit. Now the details:

Doubled sided paint metal very heavy solid (not bendable)
Measures a little over 16" x 12"

Now do I just have poor research skills...or did I come across something unique?

Original sign. I've seen one before. I have had other original newer Pennzoil DST signs in this size.

Nice sign!
I dont know if my data is completely solid, but from old adds that I have, the "Bonded Dealer" signs seem to go away sometime in the mid-late 40's and after that everthing seems to be "Sound Your Z". So the sign I would think would date from there back. The oldest add I have with "Bonded Dealer" is 1928.
Maybe someone else has some further info on the whole "Bonded Dealer" thing to help date it.
Very nice sign!! I think it very cool!!!

Steve, that makes sense. The other sign that was found with it dates back to that era. Yea I like it, I think it's going on a small wrought iron sign hanger and on the wall. Thanks

This is my Pennzoil Lollipop curb sign. The "Bonded" topper is DSP with property of the Pennzoil company on base. the main sign is DST until I can find the correct DSP solid red bell version that fits it. smile
