I found this in my father's basement today, and was looking for some information:

Any info on its date of manufacture, and an approximate value would be appreciated. I'm planning on keeping it, as I believe my dad has had it longer than I've been around.

Thanks in advance.

The bottle shape and style are 1930s, so it probably was from the mid-late 30s and maybe through the war years in the 40s. After WWII, deco packaging was considered old. The new style was moving to straight sided "efficient" packaging that would take less space.
The car looks late 1930s also. Cool bottle.
Sometimes bottles like that have a design patent number or a maker's mark on the base that can help with research.
A Sohio collector could help determine the value.

Jim, many thanks for the response. I looked the bottle over tonight, and only see the numbers 12 and 9 on the bottom, and 'standard oil company' on the sides.

I did some research on ebay, and found that there is a Sohio reference book, and that will be the next place I look.

Your bottle is listed in the Sohio book.
According to the book its from 1942-49 and valued at $30-40.
There are similar versions also. The older ones have fired on graphics instead of the paper label.

Many many thanks! Now I have an idea what I have. I'll definitely have to pass this news on to my dad, as he didn't understand why I wanted it. It's now proudly on display on the shelf I took the above picture on. Thanks again.
