About when did Pennzoil change the color of the bell in the center from brown to red, or are the brown ones faded?

Thanks

It's a toss-up between the Gray Bell and brown bell. Both have very heavy shelving.

The coloring on your brown bell doesn't appear to be solid brown, it makes it look grey, I think.
