Does any one have a way to pick the lock on the small
access door on side of gas pumps? Seems I've heard of a electronic pick, Was it called "cobra" Caint recall. Anyway, any ideas on how to open the small door on
the side of the 40's and 50's gas pumps without tweeking
the door? Thanks in advance....

Drill it out & replace.
Even if you picked it open, you still won't have a key to close.

yeah, what he said. they are like $4 for a new lock at the hardware store... and its not going to affect value to have a new lock.

the pumps that i put lighting in and just put outside, i drill out & use that lock hole for the photo-eye and then secure the door shut with either a simple cabinet spring-latch or something similar.

I agree, drill & replace.

Sometimes, I am able to get to the back of the lock. In those instances; I take it apart and take out all the springs and pins and then the lock needs no key and can be locked or unlocked with a dummy key or a screwdriver.

I have a set of about 12 keys I got from an old pump repairman. They do work on some occasions and if they don't then drill them out as mentioned above.

I have a master key for wayne 505's. I have not found one it will not work in. It doesn't seem to work on the older pumps though.

I also have a bunch of repairman keys but have limited luck with them on old pump locks, other than a Tokheim TPX lock ... they are all keyed the same and we still sell those keys today and key/lock sets but the lever thing may be different. For me it's favorable to be able to get in and remove the tumblers so it works with a screwdriver and leave the original lock.
