It's been a LONG LONG time since I worked on a 70, but seams like the hinges bolt/screw to door brackets on same side of bracket [one side bracket is rotated 180°], not inside & outside.

a little heat and they will bend better without breaking, to much heat and they will melt. I would do them seperately in a vise. Pliars in one hand torch in the other, bend slowly, don't overheat. Wave flame till you feel the pliars bending the metal then remove heat. if metal stops bending use a little more heat. DO NOT FORCE!!!!!!
There is a sweet spot in the temp that allows you to do all kinds of bending. That sweet spot is just a few degrees before melting. Same stuff computers are made of and I have lots of experience straightening computer heads & variators.

Your hinge brackets appear to be mounted right. They are the same as mine. ( one door they point up and the other they point down ). The hinges can only go one way and swing outward. According to YOUR pictures, I would mount the door that sits high with the hinge bracket on the bottom side of the hinge. Maybe, way back a long time ago, a door got mis-drilled by that half inch. DB I don't get the point of rotating a picture. Lay off that beer.

I rotated his top picture to show the different way the Hinge is mounted compared to other mounting.
Left image Hinge is mounted Outside of Bracket. Right image shows Hinge mounted Inside Bracket.

Good idea to include in this thread what the problem was. It may save someone else some time in the future.
