There is got to be someone on here that might know something about this helmet. I walked by this hundreds of times always thinking it was some type of hair saloon dryer. then one day i decided to open it and this is what i found i should have realized the USAF on the side of it [img:center][/img]
the US Navy version is designated "B.F. Goodrich High Altitude LW Mk. III Full Pressure Helmet". not sure if the USAF had a different designation or not. these were used for extremely high altitude flight such as recon flights in the SR-71, U-2 etc. they were also used by NASA in the early space programs.
