I'm wanting to get some business cards designed and printed, it seems like I'm always needing them at swap meets, auctions, etc.. I know that there a lot of very creative people on this site, and I'm sure that several people have their own cards printed up. Could some you guys post your cards, I could use some help coming up with ideas to get some business cards printed up for myself. Also, mention where you may have gotten your images that are used.

I am not very creative but this is one I have used:

I took this photo at least 15 years ago in my townhouse living room...I have since moved & should do a new one....i took a photo & had a business card made..it was inspired from a business card of Bruce Robinson's

I don't have any of my cards here at work with me but I bought some software at office depot for $9 and made my own. You can buy the business card paper there also and run them through your printer and then they just bend and break at the seams. I bought the ones that don't leave the jagged edges.
Photos... I just used pics of my pumps shakers and globes. Hope this helped.

I just took a picture and made a card on word perfect, I would think you have that on your computer. Go to an office supply store and buy some business card blanks. There's nothing to it.

I've done several designs in the past few years, but haven't printed any for myself. This is my latest layout. However, since I am a designer, I'd like to do a card with my own illustration, just haven't had the time. I'm willing to throw my services out for hire, business has been slowing down lately. I can get some really good prices on printing cards. For example, 250 full color cards for about $28.50. That's just the printing not the designing part.

Like Dan, I'm a Graphic Designer/Illustrator (along with a multitude of other disciplines). LOL

I can also design something up for you using some of the hundreds of gasoline and petroliana images I have in my files.

Here is our current card...

These are heavy stock, digitally printed with a gloss topcoat. The resolution on the actual card is much higher than what you can see on your computer screen.

Pricing depends on quantity and S&H charges.

WOW! Thats a heck of a jump from asking for help to the finished product! Did you do this card yourself or just give the ideas to a graphic designer that took over? Doesn't matter, but it really looks good. Now, the question is---Does it convey the message you want to put out??
If it does, then you're in business!!

Looks good to me, did you do that on your computer?

I had a computer "geek" friend of mine at work help me with it, he is into photography and graphic art stuff. We used photoshop and googled up the images and you see the result. I had a pretty good idea of how I wanted the layout. The background image is something that came to me a couple of days ago after I started trying to come up with ideas. Now all I have to do get some of these printed.

You should consider this - a friend told me long ago not to post your address on the card since you could be telling robbers where your treasures are. I personally just use an email address. I guess if you have a cell phone (since as far as I know you can trace an address to a cell phone like a household phone) you could list that as well.

I'll say this for Sanford first off if you can find his place your doing good and if you can make it out of his place with some loot, then i have a job for you and its not petrolina related.

Remember that the image you are seeing here on the computer screen is much larger than the finished Business Card.

IMO you have too much going on on the card. Too many images will distract from the overall impression of the card.

And if you want people to call you - you need to make the Phone Number(s) large enough that someone can easily read them as they dial the phone.

Before commiting to a design, print out a few at finished size and see what you think. Hand them to someone not in the hobby and see if the mages make sense to them and if the pertinent info is easily readable.

I'm amazed at how far back this subject has gotten, there's some writing folks here. I wanted to upload an image of this business card that I had the pleasure of doing for Veedol Al. I think it turned out real nice, IMO.



I just read T-way's comments on design and he has some good points. Simply is usually better. To add to making the phone number easy find, in this day and time, email addresses are also important. I'd rather email a person than call, this way they can contact me when it's convenient instead of interrupting them when they might be doing something important.

As for Fueluser's comment on having your address on your card. I would say that's up to the individual. With the internet I can usually find a persons street address without much effort, even scarier, with google maps I can sometimes see your backyard. I don't mind having my address on the card. More than likely if someone comes on my property you will be stopped by someone in the extended family that has multiple firearms on their person, Welcome to Dixie!

Dan, Nice business card. I am pretty savy with the web surfing and I have a hard time (if not impossible) finding the person or the associated address from cellphone numbers. I agree it is real easy with regular phone numbers and google earth is cool - you can even see the front of my house from street level in addition to seeing it from overhead. Scary what big brother knows. John

...sniff...that's m'boy!..taught him ev'rythin' he knows...

...seriously, Dan's the MAN...the first time I met him was w-a-y back in art school, about 18 years ago...

...a buddy of mine, Chris, needed a pickup truck to go get a Wayne 70 he had bought, as the truck he had previously lined up became unavailable...he was going to have to postpone the trip...

...anyway, later that day Chris called me back and told me that this guy in the art dep't named Dan (that he didn't even know) offered the use of his pickup, provided we gassed it up and got back before dark!...well, we missed nightfall by at least an hour-and-a-half...I wasn't there when Chris returned the truck, but to Dan's credit, he didn't get too sore, he just told Chris 'well, if you run into any more pumps, keep me in mind'...that was when Dan didn't have anything gas or oil...of course, Chris found Dan (and I) our first pumps, Wayne 70's not long after, for the princely sum of $15 each...

gulfiend! - Ah, those were the good ole days ... come to think of it that weren't all that good, but that Wayne 70 is still pretty sweet after 18 years.

Little over 1 year later from my last post in this thread, I've finally put a little fire under my rear to have a business card to hand out at the Mason-Dixon show. The top card was my first draft and decided that left out the fact that I also collect Sunoco. So I did the second card, which I think I may go with. If I keep fiddling with it, I won't have it printed in time for the show.

I was digging through a drawer the other day and found an old card I made in the early 90's you know back in the 1900's. I made a die for cutting the shape and I think all I had access to was a photo copier, no computer. I think this was a scrap. I was thinking about making a new image and using the die to make more modern cards
