A picture is worth a thousand words - you're about 970 short.
Kidding aside, a picture really would help.

I actually got this out of a trash pile. Only one skin (drove over by tractor) and broke one of the legs off

The size of the pipe will determine the thread. Its pipe thread.
Are you sure you want to tackle a project with this much natural and physical damage? Most would just part it out?

I have identified over 2500 gas pumps, approx. 2000 of which will be in my 3rd edition of my Gas Pump ID book.

I will try and identify you pump if you give us a picture of the pump full on, very had to identify a pump from a picture of a few parts. For example a picture of the pump mechanism doesn't show much because many didn't make the pumps and purchased them from a pump manufacturer.

My 2nd book is out of stock and out of print, but you can purchase a E-book copy right here on this site.

Only the man that Has/Had one would know as it's NOT IN EITHER of "An Illustrated Guide To Gas Pumps" Books By Jack Sim. Nor is it listed on Jack's web Site;

Maybe Illinioil will post a picture of his [if he still has it], so we all can see what a Complete one looks like & you will know what you need for Bonnet & Base.

Post a WANT TO BUY in this Forum;
http://oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=10&page=1
MAYBE YOU'LL GET LUCKY.

I'd go back to where it was found & do some more digging, that Cast Iron Base just might be there.

Well that would be 180 miles away lol
iv texted them few times ask if they ever found it. But they never looked anymore for it
il prob take the skin i got. Flatten it out for a pattern cut some 18-20 gage metal leave it bare. In year or two will look like the rest of it
and if I cant locate a base I got that took care of also

I'd almost bet there is a member closer to where found than you are.
IF there was anything else there [later pumps, farm equip., etc], might be worth while for another member to check it out & search for the Base, Indicators, Pump Handle & Bonnet.
Better for a pump collector to search than a car collector.

The story I got was...the older man I talked to. It was his grand pa farm. He had just lived there for 4-5years. Was a big junk pile that insted of hauling stuff off they just took out back
He said they had drove over the pile with a frontend loader a few times before knowing what the pump was
I had asked if he had any other signs or auto/oil related? He looked before I came up. Said there was nothen
Was a lil town bout 40 miles north of st louis close to the mississippi. But I cant remember the name of it now

Did some looking and the town is elsberry mo.

Last edited by toplescuda; Wed Jul 23 2014 06:57 PM. Reason: I added a town name

Till I was 10, we lived 12m N of Bolivar.
Where are you?
By adding a City/Town to your Profile, it will be easier to find other collectors in your area or some passing thru might contact you to swap stories/stuff.

I have a piece of sales lit. for the G 500 if that is what your pump is, will try to post it tomorrow, it's in color.

A little info. about dating visible pumps.

First visible was the Fry, (I think it was a Fleckenstein but I can't find proof of that) around 1917. Most companies were reluctant to jump into making them so they made visible attachments. Around 1922 the majors started making visibles and they started to faze them out around 1928. The last visible was made by Wayne in 1947. So, if you don't know the exact date it is safe to say "around 1925."

After looking at my pump this evening I noticed a casting number on the mid casting, refer to second photo previously posted .
Just to the left of the lighting conduint on the bottom of the casting it should read G2
I'll try to post photos this wknd.
