Thought you might like to see how cars were serviced in 1926. They are using a Rotary Lift, the top picture is from the Aetna Oil Co. in Louisville, KY, and the other picture is of Elliott's Service Station in Decatur, IL.

Jack, I don't suppose you have any more detailed drawings of that lift and the depth of the pit do you? The reason I even ask is because I may do a couple of early service station models from the era. I,ve already committed myself to two projects as it is . I'm doing the pumps fpor one person and I'm doing a Amoco station that was built here in Richmond Va. for myself. Hopefully the Amoco can be photographed and shared with you all here on the forum. Ed,
That's an ad out of a mag.
Give me some time, I'll do a little research and see what I have. Sharmeter was a large make of pits for stations and I have something on that and Wayne made a ton of lifts, and I do have manuals for all their lifts.

Jack, go to Model Cars magazine forums. Check out both the Pure station and the Shell shaped Shell station there in Diorama. I do these stations in 1-25th scale as the models are generally the same size. As soon as I become proficient with uploading photgraps, I want to post some here for ya'all to see too. I'e had some really great help from folks here and Jack you're book Gasoline Identification Guide has been EXTREMELY Helpful, especially when it came to making a Beacon five gallon visible !!

Perhaps slightly off-topic, but Gulf promoted the Rotary Lift too! This is from an ink blotter.
