This pair of globes has special meaning to me. My Dad and I attended Iowa Gas together most every year for the past thirty years or so. At our very first Iowa Gas, (Texaco was the featured oil company) there must have been 70+ globes in the auction. Of course as newbies to the hobby we were just in awe of the whole experience. This unique pair was displayed on lighted stands on either side of the auctioneer. I remember thinking how cool and unusual these were as there was also a 3x5 notecard that explained the history of where these came from and all. The auctioneer read the card aloud before they sold and I wish I could remember what it said. But back in the early 90s when a hundred dollar bill went a loooong way, these globes were simply out of my reach. Fast forward about twenty years or so, these came up in the Iowa Gas auction again!!! Although that note card history has been lost to time, I was fortunate enough to win these and makes a great memory of all the years my Dad and I have enjoyed this hobby and going to shows together.

Not a lot of globes in our collection. The Atlantic is probably my favorite.

Had globe holder made of figurative maple and dark walnut individual glued pieces and turned on a lathe.
