If you could only keep one globe in your entire collection or its just your favorite globe let's see it. This is mine it came from a friend and I don't think I could ever let it go.
Originals only for me. Always looking for Simpson oil, Super A, and MFA oil cans and globes. Shawn Morris

My first globe given to me 30 years ago. Scott Benjamin lists it in his globe e-book as only one known to exist.

One of the first globes I ever bought. I did not even realize how good of a globe it was at the time. Just liked it and still do. One piece etched with original paint.

This one was my introduction to globes and the number has grown significantly since then. But best of all it is from a small refiner/retailer in my home town. It only has one lens...so if anyone has a spare. Thanks MM for the opportunity to buy it.

All of the globes look fantastic! I don't have any, myself. Have a couple broken lenses displayed and that is it...
But, I am enjoying the beauties, you folks are sharing...
Especially, the early Associated; Neil!.... LOL
Thank you all... They look, too me, like wonderful large Christmas ornaments.

It's hard to pick a favorite, but I would have to say in a fire situation the art-deco Marathon would be the one I would probably grab. I've said before that when I got into collecting Petroliana I bought the globe books and this globe stood out to me so much that I said I was going to own one someday. It took a few years but I finally did! Darin

I bet it's one and the same. He drove something like 1600 miles and bought me one panhandle globe and didn't say a word about this one. I helped him unload 11 that day and this was one of them. He was the first guy I met from old gas he has treated me like a son. Stacy has a favorite also.

Its tough to choose with all the globes I have, but I think I like this 15 inch Cities Service globe with the Crew-Levick, cast faces, the best. It dates back to the 20's and something about it just grabs at me!

Love seeing great globes... Why are we posting reproductions? With all the beautiful original globes out there it's beyond me why there's even a market for that stuff (other than for display on an outside pump). I guess collectors and decorators are both posting their favorite globes.

I'm not sure I have one favorite globe. At first I was going to post my RJ Oils 500 globe but John posted his on his historically correct restored pump. Then I figured I'd post my Sinclair Aircraft but Steve posted his (alongside his favorite Zip Price globe). So I figured I'd post this one since my last name is Drake....

Just what Scott and Wayne published: Rackliff Oill Company out of New Britain, CT. No company history.
I got this off of e-bay years ago. I've never seen (or heard of) another one.
FYI - I believe this image was originally intended to be a 13.5" lens. The white outer border is 3/4" (times two = 1.5", from 15.0" = 13.5") and there are some other clues on the art that lead me to believe it was supposed to only be a CAPCO/Glass Body globe.
None-the-less, there was enough existing information on my original lens for me to do a reproduction.
Here is a shot of what it would have looked like when it was new.

Do you mind sharing how you came by it, Dennis? Thanx for sharing the pic and if you decide to share the story! Well Dave...I purchased it from an auction quite a few years ago. Just got lucky and bid the highest with no story behind it....BUT, the original owner of this told me that he got a call from an old man about a pump that was for sale. When he arrived at the gentleman's home, which was way out in the forest in the Pacific Northwest in the middle of nowhere, he was amazed to see the pump with globe on top sitting out next to the guys barn. If my memory serves me, I think he said the pump was still operational and hooked up to an underground tank.

I had to pick this Southland because it took so very long to upgrade. Hopefully it will clean up some. The bottom is the single lens I had to live with for years.

Love that Ace Hi globe Clifton!! I like to collect local items when possible, from Minn, Mont, SD, and of course N Dak. This globe would qualify as ND and Minn, one of my all time favorites! Has a little damage on both sides toward the bottom but took me 20 years to get one. I

Lol. But this is a super rare piece that Greg was so kind to sell to me quite a few yrs back and I'm very lucky to have it in my collection. And yes, I'll be in Ariz next week hunting buffaloes!! Haha.

I sure am sure enjoying seeing all of these great globes! Thank you to all of you that have posted. I know, for many of you, it's hard to pick just one. This is probably my favorite because it would be the hardest to replace. It's a heavy, wide, etched, milk glass "canopy globe" from the teens. One of the first globes made after the "chimney tops". It came from a TEXACO station in central Nebraska, which closed in 1956. Thank you for this thread. Rod van Pelt
Looking to buy or trade old gas station memorabilia such as pumps, globes, cans, signs, free give-aways, S&P shakers etc. from the 20s-60s.

I thought I would add one more for viewing pleasure. Found this in Eastern Colorado on a ranch in a grain bin... Rancher said he brought it from western Kansas when they bought the ranch in Colorado

This pair of globes has special meaning to me. My Dad and I attended Iowa Gas together most every year for the past thirty years or so. At our very first Iowa Gas, (Texaco was the featured oil company) there must have been 70+ globes in the auction. Of course as newbies to the hobby we were just in awe of the whole experience. This unique pair was displayed on lighted stands on either side of the auctioneer. I remember thinking how cool and unusual these were as there was also a 3x5 notecard that explained the history of where these came from and all. The auctioneer read the card aloud before they sold and I wish I could remember what it said. But back in the early 90s when a hundred dollar bill went a loooong way, these globes were simply out of my reach. Fast forward about twenty years or so, these came up in the Iowa Gas auction again!!! Although that note card history has been lost to time, I was fortunate enough to win these and makes a great memory of all the years my Dad and I have enjoyed this hobby and going to shows together.

Not a lot of globes in our collection. The Atlantic is probably my favorite.
