I picked up three pumps last Friday evening from the same guy I bought my first two from. Here is the first. It does not have any tags at all. It was obviously a Mobil pump. It has all panels and original porcelain Mobilgas signage. The glass tubes on each side are not broken. The Mobilgas glass signage is fine on one side the other side has a crack. The top has a chunk taken out on one side. It does not have any faces. It does not have a globe. Thoughts and ideas on what to do with it. Put together and get face plates and a globe and leave alone? Also what type of face plates and what style globe went on top? Could I get some Bennett tags to put on? Anyway of tracing the model an serial # without tags? Sorry for all the questions. Newbie in training!! Thank you for all the help!! Jeff

Use repo bezels, fix the top with JB weld and restore this one too.
Thanks, Phil _________________________________________________ Looking for any old pumps, or nice 5 gallon cans.

Phil, Would you do full restore? Or just put it back together and leave as is? I kind of like the original look. Especially since the porcelain signs are in good shape.

It is a Bennett 77. The 77 is a clock face pump. The 76 is a computer pump. You could convert it to a computer pump if you like computer pumps better. The computer would mount to the plate with the round hole. I would leave it a clock, they are more rare.

Phil, What kind of globe you think went on top? Thanks for your input! Jeff

I would leave it unrestored. You could get new face bezels from Gas Pump Heavin and brush paint them with aluminum silver paint and then put wood stain on them and wipe off until you like the look. This will give them an old look. I check Ron Scobies web sight and he no longer offers faces for the 77 so you may have to convert it to a computer pump unless you can find some originals. He does still list the hands.

Matt, I'm glad it is a clock face! I did not see your previous post telling me it is a Bennett 77. I would love to find some original clock faces or repo. I do think it would look good all put back together and unrestored. Everything is pretty much there except the faces. Thank you so much Matt!!

What a great find. Hold out for a set or original faces, they will show up eventually. Color me green with envy, I'd be thrilled to have this pump in my collection. Brady

Thank you Brady! I think I will hold out like you said and search out some original faces. I'm going to start putting it back together even without the faces. I'm surprised how the Mobilgas signage is still in good shape. n the lower right of each sign is I.R. 46 I assume 1946?

Thank you Braden! Being in this for the short time I have it amazes me on how a lot of people are for leaving unrestored. I do love the rustic look of them but always thought most people restored them. I am so thankful for this site and all the knowledge I have gotten from it. Thank you again everyone for your input!

Glad you are not going to restore it. Here is an example of brush painted with wood stain for and old look like I mentioned above. If you buy the new face bazels (originals are very hard to find)and paint them like this they will not look like shiny new parts.
