Recently I picked up a Hi-Speed Gasoline sign with a medal frame and hanger hooks.
I used a brillo pad to try and clean it.It did bring most of the color's out but still shows some rust color residue and dullness.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Butch

Butch I have used The Works bathroom cleaner or Muratic Acid to clean off the rust stains & other buildup. Then I put on a few coats of car wax to help the shine. I have heard lemon oil would help the shine but I have never tried it. Dont use to course of a brillo pad it will scratch the porcelian & dull it further. This is one of many ways to do this hope this helps

No Brillo, use fresh clean steel wool..

Brillo full of grinding compounds, can dull your sign..

When using muriatic acid try thinning it with water first. Also, do not leave it on long before wiping it off. Make sure you have a fan blowing the fumes away from you and wear gloves.
Mean stuff but works like magic.

Toilet Bowl cleaner or BAR KEEPERS FRIEND also works good.

Meguiar's Medium-Cut Cleaner in the brown bottle and a gray Scotch-Brite pad works wonders for me.
