Seeking any information pertaining to the Ryan Oil Company, Inc. of Illinois. Believed to have been in operation roughly the 1950’s through 1970’s in the metropolitan Chicago land area. President: Thomas E. Ryan. I am interested in: Company information, internal historical data, service station photographs, signage, oil cans, matchbooks, and any remembrances of store locations.
Please PM me here with any leads or information you may have.
Thanks,
Phil

I have a few items that I have gathered over the years. Not that easy to find items from that company. Good luck with the search!

Ryan,
Would like to see photos of what you have, if possible, just to have point of reference.
Thanks,
Phil

Here is a can from the Ryan oil company you are referring to. I have a few Ryans globes, but I believe they are from a different Ryan oil company.

I'll be in Peotone on Sunday, hoping as always to find one. There were later versions with different artwork and only 2 colors (green and white), with "RYAN" in traditional block letters.

There is a 2 gallon can known from the company. Look on worth point.com under Ryan oil can to see a photo of it.
Good oil cans don't wait for people, people wait for them.

Look for Dave Thompson, he usually sets up in the back room, near the back door. He usually has alot of good cans, if he does not have one, he might know where one is. He is a member on here, his user name is canosaurus.
Hit his profile, his phone number is listed on there, I am not going to post it on the public forum.

Here is a map that is out there. I don't actually own the map..just happened to save a picture off of ebay. Most times there are station locations listed on the back side.

Thank you very much, Alan.
I appreciate the the information. This is quite a hard nut to crack, just not much out there. You see, I worked at one of their locations after school and weekends when I was 12 years old. Started out cleaning up and stocking but ended up attending the the customers at the pumps. It was a different time. A kid could get away with having a job like that. It was the best job I ever had.
Thanks again,
Phil
