looking at the cans side by side somethings not right,
the props under the ER in bomber line up different,
the landing gear above the word oil line up different
colors don't match- somebody's shooting for a quick payday ... cool

Font for Rebel Oil Company differs between the two cans.

This kind of stuff and the BS with the Texaco Marine sign, makes me sure happy that I don't play in the high end world of 1K+ oil cans and 5K+ signs.
But anyway,

Could be different years?

Could be different can manufactures? Although you would think the art work would have been owned by Rebel and just given to the new can maker therefore keeping the can the same.

If I had to spend the money, I'm going with the top one. But need much for evidence in order to make a real decision.
Very cool can.

Here's the seam that's what made me start looking harder at them.
Top can is the original.

The one on eBay now looks to be a wrap it's lifting at the bottom.

...a couple of the fonts are different...no reason for a small company to pay for the expense of such a minor change...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
