This guy is selling this and in my opinion he knows it is a reproduction. I sent him a message telling him it was a repro and he said this,

"Hello, Thanks for the information but this one is actually porcelain, thick and heavy. I've seen the thin aluminum ones you're referring to. Like I said, I can't guarantee this is original but it's definitely not one of the cheap aluminum one that are going around.."

In my opinion he knows what he is selling. Not a lot of people collect Irving stuff so many people wouldn't realize this is a repro.

Hi, I sold 12 Irving toppers to a collector in New Brunswick a couple of months ago. This is a fake, originals were painted not porcelain. Ted

...you're making the assumption that seller was reputable to begin with. Seems to me, that's a big assumption now a days.

I'm happy someone didn't think it was real and bid a crazy amount. The guy who *I think makes* and sells them on eBay would be more expensive for me. His shipping to Canada is listed $51.61. So I would have been ok to bid on this repro sign. But I would have had nothing nice to say about his service. So almost better not to have spent the money.

ALSO; thanks to anyone who reported! This is greatly appreciated. Although eBay didn't pull the listing, anyone who reported can know that they do their part in trying to get these fakes off eBay. I know that is a big task but it's still worth a shot. Any time I see a thread that says a listing needs to be reported, I do report. Whether I post it in the thread or not.
