I just got this email:

Hi - I found your email address on Primarily Petroliana. I am putting an old Tokheim (model unknown - I don't see a plate on the outside) up for sale on Craigslist (I deleted the rest). Here is the listing in case you might be willing to publish the link on Petroliana or other places people might see it. I would also appreciate any help you might be able to give on pricing - I just took a shot at it.

I looks like emails I get everyday, but it was a porn site. Someone is really going to a lot of trouble, even using the names of gas pumps.

There was an innocent typo in the message that Jack received. Two links were mentioned. One had a good link to a legitimate site and the other was a one letter typo that led to a porn site. This is a common thing that scam artists and porn sellers set up sites that are one letter away from a domain name of a popular legitimate site. The sender of the message to Jack believably claims there was no intention to deceive or link to porn.

I assume they wanted you to pay to view some pictures - must be a profitable endeavor if they can spend that much time soliciting. Every time I get a pop-up ad, or a telephone solicitor, I can't help but think that I probably wouldn't be getting these things if SOMEONE didn't respond favorably to them occasionally. Ed
