Does anyone know the history with the early Phillips 66 porcelain shield signs? I have seen orange/black and reddish/black. What vintage is the reddish/black sign? Is it an earlier or later version of the orange/black sign? Do the manufacturers (Veribrite and SPS) have anything to do with this color change? Any info would be appreciated. Cheers

The orange and black signs are the oldest, dating to the early 40's. Reddish orange ones from the 50's. There's many shades of orange in these signs. Different runs, and different Mfgs.

From the "American Oil and Gas Historical Society's" website: (images in black and white and color)

Not sure this info helps? But at least to me, this Website's information is quite interesting....
