I picked up what I believe is a visible pump top or dome. I have looked through both of Jack's books, but could not find anything similar. It appears to have had a globe ring mounted on the top and it has some hand written notes in pencil on it. One of the notes says "line up globe ring screws here", another says "support holes for dome", and the last says "plug socket". The gentleman that I bought it from claims it is for a visible and I bought it as such knowing full well that might not be the case. Any help is appreciated.

It is very large at 30 inches in diameter and 7 inches tall.

Thanks...Kevin

Not one I've seen before. Dayton pumps don't have the vent slots like that. Clear Vision maybe? Or possibly just a light shade.

I find the handwritten notes to be odd...as compared to my own personal practice of...
1. take it apart
2. let it sit in the shop for a long time
3. loose a few parts
4. try to remember how it all goes back together

It's "suspect" for sure!

But seriously, the notes do "attempt" to take you down a road...I do have a Universal one...so it could be something like that. For myself, it appears that the rolled edge would catch and hold water...from a product design standpoint...for the implied purpose of a pump top... I don't believe they would have built it that way...at a minimum the edge should have been rolled under toward the toward the inside centerline.

The Dayton pumps I have had we about 22" across. The only one bigger than that that I have seen was a Milwaukee and this is not a Milwaukee. Could have come off of a pump but I don't know which one. Richard

I have a dayton pump here. The top on my pump is much smaller than that one. I am not sure what that top could have been off of.

The more I look at it the more I'm leaning towards industrial light shade.

Pretty sure that is a light shade. The vent slots around where the bulb fits are to let the bulb heat to escape. Definitely not a visible top. Paul www.severngaspumps.com
