Went to look at an Ol' Buck Board Wagon; saw this sitting in the corner of the barn that was falling down...so i had to rescue it.

Saved this for the scrap yard last weekend. It was buried for many years took a lot of hammering and scrubbing to bring it back. The maker and date say AM 11-48. this beast measures 10ft x8ft and will hang on the side of the work shop.

Remember this topic? http://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=99903&Number=606170#Post606170The county that owned the building ended up offering the porcelain panels at auction. I was the "lucky" winning bidder. Actually I was the only bidder. ALL of the interior and exterior panels had been painted. I didn't bother removing the tan panels from the exterior. They had been sand blasted or acid etched so the paint would adhere better. I did get 200+ white panels. Several years ago an Oldgasser hooked me up with some panels from a concrete block station. He and I removed them. Removing those panels was pretty easy. This project was a different story. It was about 842 times more work to remove these panels! These were fastened to the steel frame with 3 rusty screws per panel. There was a wood frame partition, suspended ceiling, 2x6 ceiling joists, etc, that had to be removed prior to removing the interior panels. Here's a picture of panel removal in progress.

While I was in the process of removing the panels from the DX station in northern IL, the panels on this former Sinclair station became available, so of course I bought them too.
