I was watching the James Bond film "Goldfinger" for the umpteenth time, one of my favorites, and am still trying to definitively identify the visible pump in the background of the Fort Knox robbery scene. Anyone? I would really like to know. It almost looks to be some kind of pipe organ style pump but then it looks like a Fry. Somebody solve it for me and I will do something nice for my wife, who hates my old Bond movies.

Thank you Steve. I tried all afternoon yesterday trying to post that pic. In one of the scenes you can see a cast iron face plate with movable knobs. Tha skins are octagonal steel and the bonnet is like none ive seen. Looks to be a five gallon also. Hey Jack, What page in your book, I sure cant find it.I talked to Connery the other day but he cant remember that far back. He said he would call Fleming and ask him.

I didn't respond earlier because I didn't know either and I also didn't want to stick my neck out speculating.

Looking at the pic just above the cylinder area looks like it has Correct Measure pipes, but the rest of the pump is definitely not C/M.

According to the filming history of this movie, most was shot at the Pinewood Studios in England, so... could this be a foreign pump? Looking at clip slowly, the gas pump is not shown in front of the depository. They were allowed to shoot some of the film on the outside of the depository in Kentucky, but I am sure they were not allowed to cut a door down nor to blow up a gate, this was all filmed in England.

Thanks Jack. I didnt even consider a remote location or overseas film stage. Makes sense that the pump would be hard to identify if it is foreign. Perhaps our friends across the pond will help out.
