That picture was taken at the Brooklyn, Michigan plant, not very far from where I live. This plant closed in 1967, and by the wear and rust seen in different parts of the sign, I'd say this is probably from when they were taking it down. There are plans now to turn the old plant into a restaurant.
There was still one of these signs in place a few years ago on the north side of the powerhouse at the Ypsilanti, Mi Ford plant before it closed. I tried like hell to get the chance to buy it from them, but they stated it wouldn't be sold to a private collector. They later ended up tearing that section of the plant down and I was assured that the sign was preserved prior to demolition, but they wouldn't give out any additional details. I do know it was removed prior to the demo beginning though.
