Here is the story I posted early. I was able to purchase a nice TOKHEIM 39 off of CL a while back. The lady was very difficult to deal with and I was not actually sure if she was going to sell me the pump even when I showed up. I had to pay more than her asking price just to get her to make the deal. Today I get a call from a guy that has been tracking that pump for years and trying to buy it as it was his Grandfathers original pump. He has stopped by, sent nice letters, made phone calls and they would not deal. He drives by a while back and the pump is GONE!! He hits the local antique stores, asks around town and nothing. He googles and finds the OLD GAS FORUM and finds the picture of his Grandpa's pump that I posted. He joins OLDGAS just so that he has a way to contact me. Would I sell it NO, but told him I would trade if we can find a similar UNION unrestored pump. It really needs to be in his family.

So to finish the story. I went looking for an unrestored original UNION 76 pump to make the deal. Thanks to fellow Old Gasser Tom Stover I was able to find a pump. New owner of the gas pump was delighted to get his grandfathers pump back and I am very happy to have a nice replacement.

I was asking Kurt the new owner when his Grandfather installed the gas pump next to the garage. Best he can tell was that his mother said that it was already in place when she started driving in about 1960. So pump had been in place for at least 55 years!!

I completely understand his desire to find that pump.
I asked for the pump on my grandparents dairy farm years in advance.
By that time my Uncle owned the farm, so I told him if he ever changed it that I would like to have it. Nothing special to anyone but me.
The first gas pump I ever operated @ 7 yrs old. It still has the embossed Gasboy dry hose nozzle. cool
Face by Mrs. Hubert and hose from the House of Scobie.
