Thanks for posting Bryce. Interesting to see all the items displayed like that!!
FWIW, Here is another example that shows the ridiculous prices realized at these auctions these days. So many people at them just ain't to bright. You can get this sign, in this condition, on ebay every other month for $250-$350, without the premium!!

Steve Coppens Always interested in Sunoco items! Really want a Sunoco National pump ad glass!!
Very nice display of items for sale . Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures. Makes you wonder where it is all going to end ? With investments tanking , I wonder if those with so much expendable income are seeing petro as the safe haven for the near future. Seems like the sky is the limit on these recent auctions. Kinda scary if you ask me !
Wanted TEXACO related items & SUNOCO related items .Signs -Globes et'c. Oil Cans - Grease cans .
The pumps were not out of sight though. Makes one rethink the pump side.
Have to wonder if shipping might be a factor?
Shipping is not a factor. The company Mecum uses for shipping seems to be great so far. I was quotes less than 500 to get the pump I bought crated and shipped from Fl to northern MN.. Not too shabby if you ask me.
Was there too... Great to watch some of those rare pieces go. Kim and Mary are good people. Had a chance to chat with them during the auction. They were more than willing to take the time to talk/answer questions and even give a chance to hold/drool over a few things during the preview.
Bryce, where were you sitting? (I was over by the entrance) Probably passed several OG-er's without even realizing it.
i started sitting at one of the tables, center & 3 rows up from the walkway that went thru the arena. but I was moving around quite a bit, in an attempt to keep warm, ha. Sat on the end closest to the RoadArt for a long time too. I was one of the few there with my wife as well.
I will say... the Mecum crew sure does know how to get you in a bidding mood at 9am! Here's a clip that I recorded with my phone... (notice how empty the place was though)
Thanks I'll stick with Morphy's.Mecum to big.Customer service at morphy's is excellent. You have a problem you know who to call.Descriptions are way better too.
Great pictures Bryce. I got on line with interest in the two Seaside globes. But at 12k for a single Grade and near 11k for a Silver Gull, this old poor boy quickly became a spectator. The logic escapes me, but I guess they had their reasons. And more power to Kim and Mary.
i know who bought the Seaside globes... and while pricey, they sure will look great sitting next to the Seaside sign that was also in the sale & bought by the same person
