In reviewing the old posts, I see that many members own or have owned the pumps for which I am seeking cylinder sizes. Please take a moment to let me know the sizes on your pumps. Many people refer to the chart when restoring their pumps and I would like to it be as complete and accurate as possible. Thanks.

Thanks to Phil McCauley for doing some measurements on his visible pumps. He said his 2387-V has a 12.5 x 26 cylinder and his 240-V five gallon has a 10 x 18 cylinder.

Also thanks to Bronson Robinson who said his American 1327, 2427, or a 2377 also has a 12.5 x 26 cylinder. I took the liberty of listing all as having the same cylinder size.

I am still looking to confirm the sizes of the remaining pumps. I suspect most will be 12.5 x 26.

I do have a couple of questions for the experts out there.

Are the 10 x 20, 12.5 x 25 1/2 & 12 x 27 cylinders listed correct? Or did American use 10 x 18 on all 5 gallon and 12.5 x 26 on all 10 gallon pumps.

Tim, I am no expert on the American pump but I can tell you the 12.5" x 25.5" cylinder does exist for the American pump. The octagon 2487 is one of my favourite visibles and I had purchased 2 cylinders in advance (12x27") of buying my octagon. I purchased cylinders by using chart sizing information that was wrong. I was fortunate enough to measure an original damaged cylinder that was still on a 2487 octagon and it measured 12.5" x 25.5". I wish I had of known this earlier. You are doing the right thing in correcting wrong info that exists out there. Good stuff.

Thanks for the size confirmation. I'm sorry for the error and the trouble it cause you. I am working with Jack Sims to create a more thorough lists. It isn't easy since so many members won't take the time to check their pump and let me know.

It wasn't your fault. The sizes were listed on retail gas pump parts suppliers
