Any good input on the best way to safely ship a visible cylinder?

Same way you would ship a globe. Two boxes minimum, if it's across the country I'd personally build a crate for it. Lots of packing peanuts, foam, news paper, whatever you have. Have at least 3" of protective cushion.

the best way is not to ship, pick it up yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i looked 15 years for a 13" for my g&b 67. now i have a $400.00 cyl with a big crack in it, i can sill use it but!!!!!!! charley

I had one shipped via Uship, the seller packed it in a garbage can and placed styrofoam on the outside of the cylinder with peanut foam in the center. We requested that the driver haul it inside their vehicle thus eliminating it bouncing around in a trailer. It all worked out!
