Got mine today, wow. At first I was a little disappointed with the lack of grading and descriptions but you know, these items speak for themselves.

Yep, came on Monday. I will be there with a catalog and bidder number in hand. And fortunately it looks like everything I want is on Friday.

Whenever I buy a sign, or anything vintage for that matter, I am always very concerned with how the shipper will package my new-found treasure. Working in the freight business, I see how things are handled and it is not pretty. The piece absolutely MUST be protected well enough to withstand a direct ICBM hit as most of the workers simply don't care. I have had great success with Morphy's on-site shipping department (not Box Bros in Las Vegas)but they are quite used to all sorts of antiques. Mecum, on the other hand, has been primarily a car auctioneer and only in the last few years dealt with "road art". Has anyone had any experience, good or bad, with their ability to package and ship?

Yes,i agree.to new and getting to big to fast.If you have a problem who do you talk to? Morphy's much better with descriptions, customer service, packing, catalogs etc etc. They have handled a ton of high end stuff in all phases of collectables. In any auction i like to be there and take it home,if not i trust Morphy's to pack it right.I have been there for several auctions other than gas and oil.Used to hit that area every Sunday for stuff.

Has anyone had any experience, good or bad, with their ability to package and ship? every Mecum auction I've been to... they do not offer shipping. they outsource it, usually to craters & freighters

Just a word of caution here, The display pumps need to be looked at closely, there have been repros sold in auctions without buyer knowledge. Have a person of knowledge look at these for you as a buyer to be sure. Sometimes the auction houses do not know for sure.

How do you go about getting a catalog. I talked to a friend that had gotten one but he didn't know why as he has never attended or bought anything from Mecum.

What an amazing offering! Can't believe how many duplicates of hard to find items. This one is going to be interesting to say the least.

So I paid Mecum $150 to register as a bidder for their Kissimmee sale in January and now to bid in this auction I have to pay $150 again? Am I getting this right? Unless I pay $500 for a "gold" pass to bid for the entire year I have to pay a $150 admin fee to register for each individual sale?
