People are slowly rolling in. Talked to Ron Hoyt a little while ago. He said all spaces are sold out and that people have been calling all day wanting to know if there are any spaces still available. Several of the west coast guys got here today. I heard there were quite a few signs that swapped hands today.
I spent most of the day shopping with my daughter,so I didn't see much. There were about eight to ten rooms open tonight with buying and selling going on. I did get one can to add to my collection. Will try to get some pictures of rooms and other stuff to post tomorrow.

Pat.

Well,I started a reply and quite a bit of info about today and ended up losing it because I was having trouble with Image Shack.Oh well!
Ward, I will find out who had the Kaiser-Frazier sign.It was still here this afternoon but vendor had closed for day.
There were a lot of good one quart picture cans here today.Sooner Queen,Red Hat,Pioneer(with covered wagon train),Skyway,LLL,Tankar(from Montgomery,Al),detailed Blue Ribbon,Trophy(with truck scene),Powerlube, several more.
I didn't take as many pictures as I should have.Hard to remember when you are running around looking for stuff.I had a few more pictures taken but couldn't get Image Shack to cooperate with uploading and it's getting late,so here is what I have:

I know it takes some effort to take the pics, upload them and post 'em on Shop Talk. The community appreciates it.

Back in Denver. Another great show and I am ready to go for next year. It was great to meet old and new petro friends at a great event. There is almost too much petro too buy there, not sure if that is possible but WOW some great stuff. For those of you that are on the fence about going, schedule it in your calendar for next year. It was FUN! I will get my pictures up in the next couple of days. A couple quick notes

Texaschicken- one of the friendliest guys you will meet and never be able to forget

cansarous- great to put a face to a name, keep an eye out for that yellow and purple quart for me.

Hemibird- still cant figure out how you have such great looking kids...

Strod and professor bennett- Thanks for the company and the cans!

puregas- still no on the $1000

quartcans- Broncos are going to beat your chumps whoops I meant chiefs

bustermonty- thanks for selling me the sign after you swooped in and bought it :0

rarintogo-remember I just rent the signs

Ray Cider- Can't wait to see your collection on my next trip to so cal.

powerlube out...

Just got back to my room from the can
auction. I spent the least amount of money tonight of any of the past years I've been to Iowa. Still I got a couple of good cans.
Scott's right about Iowa being a great show. I plan on coming back next year if possible. It's a long drive, but it's worth it.
I told my daughter to be patient with me here because I would be talking to a lot of people. I don't really have many friends back home and I told her that my friends
were here at the gas and oil shows. Some of the guys here I have known for seventeen years now. I've also made and met new ones here through Old Gas!
Scott, hold it till next year for $1100???
You'll probably be tired of looking at it by then, right? Did I hear you say NOT?
I only took a few pictures today but here they are.Pat

These two globes did end up selling from what I have heard, the indian was split between two collectors and the tank kep whole... the seller was originally just asking for offers then set a price and sold them.

And to finish up:

On thursday night fellow old gasser gaspower (i think) Vern stopped by my room and noticed I was surfing the net. He was bidding on a globe on ebay that was ending soon. We watched the end of the auction, here Vern is with just a few seconds left

Just after the auction ended, here is vern. It was a sad moment, the globe was snipped at the last moment by another oldgas member mike slama. It was heartbreaking to watch! At least Vern had $2600 more to spend at the show after the auction

Thats it for my pictures. Hope you all enjoyed!

Got back from Iowa last night. What a great time I had! There are always so many friendly and helpful people there. And Dick Bennett was there too...LOL. Love ya Dick!
Spent time with several oldgasers there. There was the Colorado Crew (powerlube, hemibird and st.rod) hanging in the shade. It was great talking to you guys. They brought a texaspelican into the shade with them and I have to ditto what Scott said. "one of the friendliest guys you will meet and never be able to forget" Great meeting ya Paddy!
Also had great conversations and was glad to meet with Keith (keithia), Russ Jacobs, Scott (quartcans) Shipers, Glenn Nelson, and Les (gasgeezer?) Towner, Keith (gmstuff?) and his sons (thanks for the great conversation and the water), Todd Pace, Maurice (souperhigh) and his wife Christina "OOOHHH...YOUR RARIN TO GO?!?!"...ouch! It's always fun talking with you guys. I'm sure I forgot a few but it was great meeting all of you!
My wallet is empty but what a great time!

Mr Pure gas

These pictures are really great thanks for taking the time. I am looking for a ppg fleet colour book for doing gas pumps and I know you are a dealer and thought mabe you could help with a little info. I would like to get the one with thte chips on strips of paper in plastic sheets if you know what I mean. My local jober is really quite good to me but all he seems to be able to get it a litte fleet folder mabe 4 or five pages. Do you know what the book I am looking for is called? mabe even how much they cost. I think that it would make picking colours for pumps so much easier for me.

thanks

Scott, nice to meet you and thanks for your compassion during my moment of sorrow! Wish I could have met more oldgassers but I wasn't ever able to connect the stalls to the names.

Thursday night buffet with BBQ beef sandwiches and keg of beer followed by the room to room was awesome too.

Another Iowa Gas in the history books. Definitely had a great time visiting with old and making new friends. It truly is a close group of wonderful folks. Didn't buy much this year....mainly cause nothing showed up from my wish list but I enjoy hanging with the gang just the same.

My wife and kids joined me this year so we can enjoy the hobby as a family. I ordered some shirts from our good buddy Prof Bennett and he surprised us with a little something extra. The picture says it all! I wonder if there are any child labor laws that prohibit children from soliciting on behalf of their ol’ man??
