Thinking about buying this from a friend. It's 27" tall. I was wondering if they're doing repops in this size. Thanks, Tom

I believe these are a newer fantasy thermometer manufactured probably in the 1990s. There have been many on ebay over the years including some in their original cardboard boxes. There are 7 of them on ebay right now. Prices and condition have been all over the map, from mint in the box to phoney rustic. I wouldn't consider them to be a real vintage collectable. I don't even know if Pepsi had anything to do with their manufacture. Perhaps they just licensed their name to be used on the product. Cheers, Don.

Hi Don. Haven't spoke with you in a long time. Hope you're doing well. Thanks for your input. Something about this one bugged me a bit.

My recollection is that these were 1980s fantasy pieces. Joe

I agree with Joe. From the 1980's, a novelty item copied from the 1940's style thermometers. (same size as the originals)

These are one of several thermometers repop'd sometime in the 80's, whether by Taylor or another company I'm never sure. They all share the same long term issues of color instability compared to originals if exposed to sunlight for a length of time. This Pepsi turns up all the time as does the Packard and a few others. Sadly there are many ill-informed who believe them authentic and try to convince others to pay authentic prices for them.
