I was decided to try evaporust on my Gilbarco 906 Computer, I tested one of the numbered pieces to see if it would affect paint, no effect at all. so i left Computer over night soaking inn evaporust, it came out looking great , all rust , oxidation, was removed, was very happy with the results

If it's the stuff they have at Harbor Freight I tried it a couple of times and did't have too great of results but maybe it was just the things I tried it on. It would take quite a bit of it to soak an entire computer, did you dilute it?...GB

it took my 3 gallons at $25 Canadian each. i did not dilute it, i separated the bottom half and top half , the bottom half was totally covered, top half was 3/4 so i had to flip it to do both sides, let them soak for 24 hours, halfway through i got a small screw driver and scraped off any flaking rust , which took a few minutes. i,ll post some pics tomorrow in the US you can get it here http://www.evapo-rust.com/buy/

I use that stuff for parts all the time. I have some soaking the interior of a motorcycle gas tank as we speak. It is expensive though. $27.99/gallon at Harbor Freight in the US and you only get two maybe three uses with it. Sandblasting is a lot cheaper for simple parts and Evaporust for the complicated assemblies.
One tip I have: use the name brand Evaporust, I tried some from Home Depot called Metal Rescue and it was nowhere near the quality of Evaporust. And another good thing about Evaporust - no noxious smell and you can dump it down the drain.

As I understand it is not cheap so you need to fix a container that fit your computer well so it doesn't take too much fluid.
Some guys in the car hobby uses a tight tube to clean drive shafts...

Acids work better when there is no oil or grease on the object.
