Looks like there's going to be a gas bash in Solvang at The Poor Mans Place.
Dates are set for Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16, 2005 (Pomona Swap Meet is on Sunday, July 17th for vendors that want to go there too.)
Right now we are looking for interested vendors. Spaces will be $30.00 and include a Santa Maria style BBQ on Friday night free for the vendor and $5.00 per guest and extra's.
Solvang is a tourist destination and has many hotels, motels and inns as well as the Chumash Casino and resort hotel in Santa Ynez. There is also a large RV park in Buellton called Flying Flags RV Park if you have a rig.
The official name of the Bash is the El Camino Real Gas Bash in honor of historic highways 1 & 101 which is the route the Padres followed when they established the mission chain in California.
Solvang is on the Central Coast of California about 180 miles from the LA area and 280 mile from the Bay area. The closest airport for jet service is in Santa Barbara (30-40 miles). There is also a small airport for private planes in Santa Ynez (5 miles).
This event is co-sponsored by those rabble rousers from PCA West and should prove to be a nice event, (especially if you do a lot of the local wine tasting).
More info will be forthcoming on as the show gets closer.

It should be a great first Bash, I'm having a limited amount of custom T-shirts made. Using the rare El Camino gasoline globe art from the the gasoline station chain that had stations along the El Camino Real = 101 from Santa Barbara to San Fransico in the 30ties. that image can be seen in the library of Vintage-logos. Curt is also trying to set up a tour of Jack Mendenhall's petroleum museum on sunday morning and we will have church services there. come one come all. If you have never been to Solvang ? It's BEAUTIFUL in the Spanish Hills along the coast. We at Vintage-logos are donating a set of our lenses to be raffled. ------------------ Dwaine. pca-west.org www.vintage-logos.com http://www.caltel.com/~jlgas/ http://www.caltel.com/~jlgas/Items_for_Sale.html http://www.caltel.com/~jlgas/misc_.html

How much are the T=shirts? Do we have to go to church to see the museum? Wine sounds good. Is the RV park an RV park or live in for transients? First bash where I will actually be off work. Ted ------------------ Ted Roach Lodi CA. pca-west.org

It's a nice RV park if you don't mind the permanent residents. Bring a few potted plants and you'll fit right in Ted. Go see the movie "Sideways" that's out right now for a nice tour of the area (and a good laugh). Not a flattering portrait of the locals but most of the movie was shot here so you can see the local scenery and hangouts. T-shirts are $75.00 bucks for you Ted since they will become a collectors item. The rest of you will get a good guy discount. Trying to set up Mendenalls for Friday or Saturday night so you can shop and taste wine on Sunday (or go to church). Plenty to do here so make a long weekend out of it. ------------------ C Cragg www.poormansmuseum.com

Definitely not new, been there a long time. Right at the 101 and Avenue of the Flags in Buellton (Mendenhalls is right across the street). Also very nice RV sites at Cachuma Lake and it's only about 15 miles away. Gaviota State Beach has sites and it's about 20 miles or less.
One RV site at my house with full hook-ups available to the highest bidder.
